I have always found myself fascinated by the use of unconventional materials and furniture for interesting purposes. I have utilized this kind of aesthetic in my own home for a long time and it never fails to draw the eyes of my guests and start a vibrant conversation on the subject of aesthetic theory. One of the most interesting ideas I have seen in a long time is this bookshelf made out of iron pipes.
This design idea is not for those that want to fill their houses with pink and pretty things. This idea works best in a deconstructionist design with a gritty feel that embraces the hidden beauty of modern construction materials. Exposed brick and intentionally faded paint on the walls will offer a beautiful background to this unique book shelf.
One of the best things about this idea is that it is infinitely customizable. You can adapt the shape of this bookshelf to the shape of your home. Because this is a DIY project at its core, you are going to need a little bit of know-how to make this really work, but the materials are pretty simple. A drill with a masonry bit, concrete anchor bolts, the fixtures and pipes, and the blessings of your landlord are all you need.
You can also change out the elbow joints for T joints to make the angles into places to stick silk flowers for a striking contract between the almost black metal and the vibrant colors of the silk blossoms. This contrast is something that is embraced by the photographer who takes a picture of the flower growing out of the crack in the concrete sidewalk of the aging city, but is too often overlooked by interior designers. This is not the average vase you are going to find at a store that has silk flowers for sale, but that is what makes it so interesting.
